Nikko, the World Heritage sight and Edo Wonderland

The city of Nikko, Tochigi prefecture distance about 2 hours from Tokyo is famous for its UNESCO World Heritage shinto shrine called, TOSHOGU and theme park called EDO WONDERLAND.

This Toshogu shrine was established in 1617 as a lavish memorial for Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of long Edo Period.

Nikko Toshogu is a shrine comples consists of more than dozen buildings set in a beautiful forest,wood carvings and large amount of gold leaf were used to decorate the buildings. There you can find most famous wood carvings of three monkeys, “see no evil, speak no evil and hear no evil”.

Edo Wonderland is a Japanese cultural theme park in Nikko and you can enjoy a life of people here in Japan in Edo period. You see samurai, ninja, geisha and village girls all over the park and actually you can transform into one of them! You will experience the life and foods back in Edo period there!
