Burger King launches black burger in Japan

The two burgers, the plain “Kuro Pearl” and the topping heavy “Kuro Diamond” both feature buns and cheese blackened by a bamboo wood fire.  The sauce also includes a healthy dose of black squid ink.  Kuro means black in Japanese.

Burgers with black buns were first introduced for a limited time by the chain in 2012 and became a hit, outselling all other new products that Burger King offered during the year, according to the company. They were also available for a limited time in 2013.

The Pearl and Diamond are the first to include blackened cheese and sauce. They will be available until early November, according to the company.

Would you like to try it? Or do you feel disgusting?

Japanese Volcano Erupts

The volcano erupted unexpectedly in central Japan on Saturday, shooting ash and rocks into the air that left hikers injured, and forced hundreds to shelter in cabins near the summit.

The eruption of the 3,067-metre (10,121-foot) Mount Ontake straddling Nagano and Gifu prefecture happened around midday, the meteorological agency said.

Thirty-one hikers were found unconscious and apparently dead near the peak of a volcano. The danger of another eruption and of a release of toxic gases made it impossible to bring most of them down and confirm their deaths

Did you know curry rice is Japanese nation food?

The “national dish” - curry-rice - is said to be eaten by many Japanese people once a week. It's more than 150 years since the Japanese came across this exotic dish that originated from India.

Curry came to Japan in the late 19th century. It was introduced by the British, initially as a luxury food, but in due course unique Japanese recipes were created that included meat boiled up with potatoes, onions and carrots, and it became popular as a nutritious meal. Subsequently, we came up with unique, Japanese flavors and curry-rice became a firm favorite in Japanese homes when, in 1963, a mild, instant curry for children came onto the market, replacing the traditional image of "hot curry." It then went on to be regarded as a national dish.

If you go to some special curry restaurants, you will get unique curry toppings.
