Muslim mosques in Japan

Did you know there are about 80 Muslim mosques including the small places of worship located all around in Japan?

The biggest mosque in Japan is in Tokyo known as “Tokyo Jamii (Tokyo Mosque)” which can accommodate about 1200 people at once in the pray room. It stands out in the right in the middle of quiet resident area which is close to Yoyogi-Uehara station of Tokyo, Shibuya-ku. The history is long but the building was just built in 2000 and is still new.

The first mosque in Japan was built at Kobe in 1935. Because of its strong building construction, they escaped being damaged from the Kobe bomb in 1945 and also from Hanshin Awaji earthquake in 1995.

If you are interested, you can enter the mosque but be careful what to wear, short pants and mini-skirt are not allowed.
